HOME EDUCATION PROGRAMME
Ed Info 4.jpg

The Imaginarium Creative Studios offers a bespoke home education programme accessible online and also face to face aimed to enhance education of the arts for children, youth and families to learn together whilst supporting health, mental health and emotional wellbeing. Our groups are specifically small so we can build a strong working relationship so we can support each child continuously and develop individual learning plans if required.

The home education programme can be one off workshop’s which are advertised individually or a course (on average 1-2 days a week for 6 weeks) focused on a project delivery approach which means we are working towards a performance based on a set theme often linking in:

  1. Social aspects to build confidence and friendships (Play time with games, social outings etc)

  2. Food with creative cooking for life skills (Preparing lunches and fun snacks)

  3. Family sessions where you can all come together for discussion groups, arts and crafts etc to bring learning to the whole household as something special to share together.

  4. Exploring a range of other artforms such as creative writing for English development and also technical theatre for creative practice such as theatrical costume, hair and make-up

  5. Developing our digital world in ICT with projects that link in film making, music editing and digital imaging.

Each project is delivered over a range of one-off masterclasses and/or a weekly timetable of classes over 1 - 2 days a week depending on how much you’d like to do e.g you may want to do all performance classes but not technical theatre or vice versa.

Technical theatre courses can be linked into performance or you can enrol on a stand-alone course studying fashion from our inhouse technical theatre company Trash Dollies, where students get to learn how to design and make their own costumes ending with a professional photoshoot to generate our promotional material for the performance or just to keep in your portfolio.

Each set theme is explored through teaching of dancing (street, urban, hiphop, contemporary, jazz, physical theatre and fusion), singing (pop, rock and musical theatre) and acting, bringing characters to life from the theme but in a unique way! Maybe with a style twist or looking at the story from a different perspective etc.

The shows are written, designed and tailored to the specific students in the group of all the ages to bring out the best in them working on their individual learning needs often linking in a collaboration between the tutors and the students to bring in the students own ideas and creativity as well, whether that be through choreographic dance, writing and devising sections of the script, characterisation or directing. For bigger project’s they belong to the students so they can take pride in their work from start to finish by collaborating in all elements including the creative production process by making decisions as a company.

With staff at the Imaginarium being from professional teaching backgrounds we may do more formal tasks with the students if you wish including scrap book work, designing, set making, prop making, keeping diaries in written or film form and set each student targets to help them build their confidence and achieve. This then gives the students a good basis to work on to achieve the qualifications available if you wish.
